I am so excited to share my first spoken word video with you all. This poem was inspired in part by Psalm 13:1-3, which says:
“How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?
How long must I take counsel in my soul
and have sorrow in my heart all the day?
How long shall my enemy be exalted over me?
Consider and answer me, O Lord my God;
light up my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death.”
God already knows your sorrows, fears, disappointments, and doubts. Faith in our all-knowing and good God doesn’t require you to conceal those things, rather it invites you to pour them out in prayer to Him. Where else can you go?
God works in our hearts through the grace of Christian lament and moves us towards remembering the faithful character of God and trusting in him. We must come to him humbly, yet boldly, as broken people, confessing our all to him so that he can lift us up. He’s the only one who can help us on our darkest days, so running from him should never be the answer.
If you would like to learn more on the topic of biblical lament, I highly suggest reading “Dark Clouds, Deep Mercy” by Mark Vroegop. God may use it as a balm for your soul.
Please comment and let me know if you enjoyed this spoken word video! This is new for me, so I appreciate also if you take a minute to share this with friends and family. Don’t forget you can find me on Facebook at Come to Christ, where this video can be shared directly and easily with friends.
